The former Italian cross-country skier, Stefania Belmondo was born in Vinadio in the province of Cuneo. Her zodiac sign is the Capricorn, which mainly means she is "very stubborn", and when she thinks of something she has to be able to finish it. She has always lived in the mountains and started to ski in the snow-covered fields right in front of her house. In primary school she began to attend various ski courses; she was a very energetic little girl, and sports gave her a chance to vent this great desire for movement. She made her debut with the Italian national team in 1987 and the following year participated in the XV Olympic Winter Games in Calgary, Canada. Stefania Belmondo She is one of the most titled female athletes of this discipline in history, with ten Olympic medals and thirteen world championships. Since 1992 she has also been part of the State Forestry Corps and promotes and teaches cross-country skiing amongst the young. She was the last torchbearer who lit the Olympic flame during the opening ceremony of the XX Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games. Since 2010 she has been the television commentator of cross-country skiing for RAI.
